G Codes for OT, PT and SLP
In addition to the revised CPT codes for mental & behavioral health, there are now also new nationwide billing requirements for outpatient Medicare OT (occupational therapy), PT (physical therapy) and SLP (speech language pathology). Most of our clients are in the mental & behavioral health care fields, but we do have a few that fall within the G code category, as PIMSY’s Q&A functionality allow it to be customized for other industries.
The G codes are also called tracking codes, as they are used to track information on patients and treatments and are usually used for quality improvement programs, public health information gathering, etc. This is why there are no values associated with them and providers are being asked to report the functional level of the Medicare patient. Providers will still bill the regular CPT codes for the actual services & procedures.
