Mental / Behavioral Health MU Deadline for Medicare is less than a month away!
For Eligible Professionals (EPs) participating in the Medicare Meaningful Use (MU) grant program, the deadline to attest to demonstrating meaningful use of the data collected during your EHR reporting period for the 2014 calendar year is 2.28.15, less than a month away.
For Medicaid MU, follow your state's attestation deadlines: click here.
If you qualify for both programs, you must pick one to participate in and demonstrate Meaningful Use, or you may begin seeing payment adjustments on your reimbursements.
Penalties for Non-Participation
"You must attest to demonstrating meaningful use every year to receive an incentive and avoid a Medicare payment adjustment."
Many practices have already received a notification of 2015 Medicare penalties for non-compliance with the rule; Medicaid does not penalize for non-participation. If you qualify for both programs, you must pick one to participate in and demonstrate Meaningful Use, or you may begin seeing payment adjustments on your reimbursements.
"Medicare eligible professionals that did not successfully demonstrate meaningful use in 2014 and do not receive a 2016 hardship exception will have payment adjustments applied beginning January 1, 2016. The application period will open in early January 2015. For more information, please review the payment adjustment tipsheet."
