Meeting ICD-10 Compliance for Mental / Behavioral Health, Psychiatry and Substance Usage
July Item #1: Reality Check
If you’ve been heeding the warnings, you will have already completed testing of ICD-10 codes with your payers. Time for the reality check: what passed? What failed? What steps do you need to take to ensure that claims won’t be denied and will be paid after the 10.1.15 transition deadline?
Do you need to re-train providers? Make sure your billing department is submitting efficiently? Did the front office ensure that all demographics and necessary client chart data was submitted? Testing will show you where the gaps are – now you just have to close them and re-test to ensure ICD-10 readiness.
June Item #2: Testing Resources & Details
If you haven’t yet started testing, don’t worry: CMS just put out a week-long promotion to help practices start ICD-10 testing now. They provided solid resources & tips in a 5-part series, designed to get all agencies testing with their payers immediately. Click here to take advantage of these complimentary tools.
