Pain Point: Need Staff Accountability
by Leigh-Ann Renz, 2.23.16
One of the features that people really respond to when we provide live Web demos of PIMSY is that it holds providers accountable to practice guidelines – and a high level of client care – while taking the blame for management.
The Stop-Gaps Are Automatic
For example: if a provider doesn’t complete their notes on time, they receive an alert from PIMSY reminding them that they need to release the note. The practice sets the parameters for how long a provider has between starting and releasing a note.
If the note needs to be reviewed by a supervisor, PIMSY will help the clinician funnel the note to the appropriate party for sign off and then return it to the original provider for completion / release. If the authorizations have expired for a particular CPT code, that bill code won’t even show up as available on the note.
Because the stop-gaps are automatic, from the system, PIMSY takes the blame for you! It contains staff behavior, freeing you up to focus on other tasks. You don’t have to micro-manage your teams or review all the details of each session, note, payment, or remittance.
Holding Your Team to a High Level of Patient Care
This note scrubbing also helps improve patient care. It helps your providers stay aware of things like:
- medication interactions
- prior treatment success tracking
- demographic considerations
- reporting qualifications like meeting PQRS measures
This can remind providers of programs that the patient might be eligible to participate in; and it helps the clinician complete the necessary note fields for invoicing. You can rely on PIMSY to scrub each session note with a fine-tuned comb, freeing your time up for other tasks – while still holding your team to high standard of client care.
You can use high-level reporting to address trends in a generalized sense without putting your employees on the spot; and then utilize the hard data to address details with an individual team member, when necessary. Front desk staff, the billing team, even management can all be held to a high level of client care by the EHR system itself – and detailed reporting can be used to manage each of your teams.
This gives you more opportunity to focus on: fine-tuning practice management, agency expansion, and / or treating your own clients – ie, you can manage the practice instead of micro-managing each staff member.
The Bottom Line
Because PIMSY helps make sure the clinician is appropriately coding the session, this assists with progress towards client goals, which: improves patient outcomes, enhances client care, and helps ensure your claims are reimbursed by payers.
PIMSY helps to ensure that the practice receives the maximum amount of reimbursement on claims. By eliminating common claim denial factors from the outset, you’re ahead of the game of successful revenue cycle management.
PIMSY’s accountability and reporting options can be used to gauge and address the health of your practice in every area. Any mental health software you consider should provide integrated reporting and data management tools.
As much as we in behavioral health want to help others, it’s necessary to have the financial foundation in place to be able to do so. Without practice viability, we can’t offer treatment or services to anyone. The more reimbursement you can receive for treatments provided, the more clients you can help. That’s the true bottom line.
